The Details

This space is used for family time, watching movies, playing games; and also doubles as the main entry for this coastal home. On plan this was a big open room. Amy defined the space by adding a coffered ceiling, a large cased opening dividing the entry from the family room, a built in for the television, and a small kitchenette for guests. Consistently used by the grandchildren, the fabric on the sectional had to be durable. Coastal elements include the tongue and groove coffered ceiling, nautical sail cloth fans, louvered cabinetry and seagrass textured rugs. A marble game table can be used for snack time or a game of backgammon. To complete the space, we used our client’s favorite books, some carefully curated decorative accessories, mixed a few family antiques with modern pieces, added custom pillows and family pictures.
